Join the Guns of the Fifth!
The 5th(BC) Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, is looking for
part time members to serve with us! We are a Reserve Army unit in
Victoria, BC. We offer competitive wages, educational reimbursements,
varied training, and excellent career advancement.
Our role as Gunners is to provide indirect fire support, and we do
this using long-range projectiles. Members can expect to do a number of
different duties, ranging from surveying potential gun positions,
calling in fire missions, using sophisticated computer technology to
calculate data, and operating and maintaining various weapon and
vehicle systems.
The 55 Battery (Victoria) of the 5th Field Regiment is the official
saluting battery for Victoria. We are heavily involved in the community
and our members find the various salutes (Remembrance Day, Victoria
Day, Canada Day) and community events (parades, starting gun for
various races) personally rewarding.
We work flexible hours during the fall and spring, and during the
summer there is the opportunity to work full time. This is a perfect
opportunity for high school or university students, those seeking to
get out of their comfort zone, anyone in search of adventure and
personal challenge, and is an opportunity to build your resume and
expand life skills while working as part of a team. There is no
long-term commitment required, reservists do not sign contracts and are
not obligated to serve overseas. Members who wish to serve either on
operations or in the event of natural disasters or domestic crisis may
volounteer to do so.
